It would sit around to long in the summer wether and the blowflies would come and feast on the dirty mat. My cat is a very fussy eater and I like to keep the feeding area as clean as possible and try not to give more then what he will devour in one go. Spent the money on more useful stuff like a small can of fency feast or something or one extra flea treatment.
