You should run a control test with your AlphaTRAK Glucose Meter in the following situations:
-
When you first purchase the AlphaTRAK Glucose Control Meter
-
When you start a new vial of AlphaTRAK Test Strips
-
When you’re unsure about the meter’s results
-
If you forgot to close the test strip vial
-
If the meter has been dropped
-
When advised by your veterinarian
Directions:
-
Insert an AlphaTRAK Test Strip into the meter with the butterfly end facing out.
-
Code the meter to match the dog or cat code on the test strip vial.
-
Shake the control solution bottle well.
-
Discard the first few drops of control solution.
-
Apply the next drop to the bottom of the test strip while it is inserted in the meter.
-
The meter will beep once enough solution has been applied.
-
If needed, you can add more solution within 60 seconds of the initial application.
-
Compare the meter reading to the acceptable range listed on the test strip vial.
-
Removing the test strip will automatically turn the meter off.
